Wolfgang Petersen died?
Wolfgang Petersen was a renowned German film director, producer and screenwriter. He directed films such as Das Boot, Air Force One, Poseidon, In the Line of Fire and Outbreak. He passed away on past Friday, August 12 2022 at the age of 81 years. Wolfgang Petersen died due to Pancreatic Cancer. Wolfgang was born in Emden in 1941. His father was naval lieutenant in World War 2 and later worked for shipping company in Hamburg. Hence Wolfgang had always keen interest in sea and navy and directed many movies based on same.

Petersen directed renowned actors Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt etc and worked in the film industry for over five decades. His death came as a shock to the entire film fraternity. He passed away at his Los Angeles residence in the presence of his wife of 50 years, Maria Borgel Petersen and their children. Petersen’s married twice. His first marriage was with actress Ursula Sieg. In 1978, he married Maria Borgel.
Petersen relocated to Los Angeles in 1986 and late took . His son, Daniel is also keen to follow his steps and pursue film direction .He was known for his flawless work as a film maker. He had his first success with World War Two submarine thriller, Das Boot. The movie got two Oscar nomination. The move was adapted from a novel of the same name and was about the Battle of the Atlantic. He got the Oscar nomination for the best direction for the same. He directed his first English Movie, “The Never Ending Story“ in 1984. It was a fantasy movie and established him in English cinema.
His movies were always gripping and thrilling and the direction would be flawless. It is not known for how much time he was suffering from pancreatic cancer. It is reported that he would be buried in Germany. Funeral details are yet to be made public and will be kept private.

Throughout his career, he paid no attention to critics who called his artistic merit into question. His journey as filmmaker was unparalleled and he was one hell of a filmmaker who pursued his passion to no end. He was one of the handful of the foreign directors who made it big in Hollywood. He directed approx 29 films across his native Germany and Hollywood in his carrier.
Many of them were box office hits. He was a member of the jury at the Venice Film Festival in 2004.Tributes are pouring in since the news of his death has been released. Petersen was an icon in both German and Hollywood film industry and we are going to miss him. He was one of the most successful German filmmakers in Hollywood and uplifted German cinema in world map.
Many of his colleagues has praised him saying that he was a great human being and a pure loving soul. We were all privileged to see his work and are going to miss him. May his soul rest in peace. We can always remember him through his work.
