Freddie Mercury Die – Cause of Death
A popular member of the hit band of the 70s, Queen, Freddie Mercury was one of the greatest singers in the rock music genre. Born in September, 1946 in Zanzibar (now in Tanzania) Freddie Mercury was the lead vocalist of the band. His father was employed with the British Government and they had their roots in western India being a part of the Parsi community. A major part of his childhood was spent in India. It was there that he learned to play the piano.
His interest in music started in his childhood and had an inclination towards rock music. For his College education he moved to London . He met guitarist, Brian May and drummer, Roger Taylor of music band, Smile, in London and formed the friendship of a lifetime with them. After the lead singer of the band left, Freddie took on the role and changed the name of the band to Queens, in the year 1970. Since then the band achieved staggering success and rose to the number one position on many music charts.
Freddie Mercury musician career –
He was quite the showman and his interactions with the audience garnered much fan following. Freddie Mercury was much the public figure and always adored by the masses. He had many passions like art collection, and also his personal life, be it his engagement to Mary Austin or his relationship with Jim Hutton, always kept him in limelight. Thus, his withdrawal from public life in 1989, sparked rumours of illness, though no confirmations were ever made.
On November 23, 1991, Freddie Mercury announced that he was HIV positive and suffering from AIDS and asked his well-wishes to join the fight to combat the deadly disease. Just the next day, on November 24, 1991, Freddie Mercury passed away due to health complications and left a large vacuum that exists till date.
Awards winning performances –
Though he kept away from public life, he still was working and he featured in the band’s final album, Made in Heaven (1995). A tribute concert in his name for AIDS Awareness was held on April 20, 1992. The movie, Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) was based on him and it achieved phenomenal success , with the main actor Rami Malek winning an Oscar for playing Mercury ‘s role in the movie.
The BRIT Award for Outstanding Contribution was awarded posthumously in the year 1992. In 2001, he along with his band mates were instated into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There is also a flower and an asteroid named after him.
